Four-color theater programs have been as much a part of theater productions as curtain calls and intermissions; however, they use a large amount of paper resources. Jackson's Off Square Theatre Company believes it is the first theater to "go green" with programs by creating a digital playbill-using ads and video programming that will play on a screen prior to each performance.

Although the Off Square Theatre Company recycles its programs after productions and also uses them in marketing efforts-the company feels the switch to digital is a smart move both environmentally and economically. "We feel we can give our sponsors more recognition by putting their ads on a screen prior to the performances when we have a captive audience," said Producing Artistic Director John Briggs. "If we can maximize exposure for sponsors while helping the planet, that's a win-win situation."

The innovative digital program will consist of a video slide show, projecting each ad to the audience for 10 seconds. The ads will be appear between video programming that will include behind-the-scenes interviews, costume design footage and scene production footage, with video content changing every production Instead of printing 20,000 full programs per year as Off Square Theatre previously did, one-page fliers will provide cast information for each show, significantly reducing paper use.

The Off Square Theatre Company, founded in 1998, is the resident company at the Jackson Hole Center for the Arts, and is Wyoming's only full-time, year-round professional theater company. For additional information, contact Emy diGrappa at 307.733.3021 or visit www.offsquare.org.
